We were all so proud of you all. The production of Mr Humbug sees the Light was amazing. Everyone enjoyed watching it and performing in it too. The singing and acting showed what fantastic talent we have in our school. Well done to everyone involved in putting together the wonderful lower school performances.

Gym festival

In November we went to Mountbatten and entered a gymnastics competition. We took 12 year 3 and 4 children and 12 year 5 and 6 children. The children had previously had an intra festival at NBJS to compete against each other doing a floor routine and a vault.
At the festival they had the chance to go on the trampolines and use the mini trampette as well as performing their vault twice and performing their floor routine (which needed to include a roll, balance and jump).
Our year 3/4 team came 3rd overall and our year 5/6 team did very well too. I was very impressed watching them, showing off their flexibility and gymnastics skills in fantastic fashion.
Girls football competition

We entered a team in the girls football competition at Mountbatten. The girls played exceptionally well to finish in 5th place, having made a great start winning their first 3 games. We lost just 2 games and drew the other 3. It was an excellent team effort with some great saves from the goalkeeper, brilliant tackling from defenders, lots of running, dribbling and passing from the midfielders and some fantastic shots from our strikers. An amazing team spirit was shown by all.
The team consisted of: Scarlet, Izzy, Luci, Jess, Stephanie, Adelaide, Charlotte, Katy and Rhiannon.

Year 3 Farm Applique

Year 3 have had great fun in this last week of school sewing to create their own farm based applique. We drew some simple designs in our sketch books and then chose our favourite to create. We cut out all the parts on coloured paper and then pinned them to coloured felt. We carefully cut around each part and then the fun started. Threading needles and sewing the pieces of felt together. We added stuffing under some of our parts to create the applique. All great fun and we were very proud of our final product.

BUTSER ANCIENT FARM TRIP
Posted by in Year 4
|
On a sunny day in October, Year 4 had a wonderful trip to Butser Ancient farm. First we were taken into the large round house. It took a few minutes for our eyes to get accustomed to the dark. The air was filled with the smell of smoke from the open fire crackling in the centre of the building. I was struck by the size of the round house – it seemed far bigger on the inside than it looked from outside. The pointed ceiling towered above us, the smoke drifting upwards trying to find its way out through the thatched roof. A large chain hung from the pinnacle, on which was hung a large iron pot above the fire. You could imagine the Celts cooking a large stew to feed the many people living in this one area.
Bouldering wall

At the start of the Autumn term we were very excited to have a bouldering wall at school. We learnt how to hold onto the hold onto wall in various positions, e.g. frog hold. We climbed along the wall knowing we had the safety of a spotter behind us. It was fab!
